Overview
In between the two years of my Master's at the EIT Digital Master School, we can attend a Summer School. There were different cities to choose from, with each city having a different theme. All of them are 2 weeks and focused on developing a business plan. I decided to go to Tallinn, as in this city there is a vibrant startup scene and it has a good technical university (TalTech).
The theme "Digital Cities", focused on how a city needs to adapt to the continuously growing number of inhabitants. Urban mobility is one of the major focus points for big cities. You can find a summary from the Summer School in TalTech here.
My role
For the project we were divided in groups of 5. Our group came up with a startup that can help governments and companies with the growing problem of urban mobility. We called the startup Ignite.
My role was to be the product manager of our startup. As product manager I did all the presentations and was in charge of leading the team during discussions. I was also in charge of leading the user and market research for our product.
Final pitch
As product manager of this startup I took the opportunity to work on my pitching skills. My final presentation can be seen in the video below. For the slide deck please click here.
Ignite
Ignite is a company that develops a platform that analyzes and visualizes urban mobility data to enable our customers to make decisions quicker and more accurately. With this platform, our customers can play with the built-in tools to display the desired visualization. Our platform also shows the optimized solution for a customer’s needs. We aim to bring valuable insights with regards to mobility that so far have been lengthy and costly to obtain.
Validated by our research and through communicating with key people in both the Tallinn government and relevant industries, we found that the difficulty to obtain relevant and accurate mobility data has plagued decision-makers in both public and private sectors. This makes our target market relatively huge, including primarily the transportation department of city governments and private businesses such as real estate developers.
